Guess the higher Salicylate levels

My next seven or so posts will be showing a competition for people who can guess which foods have a higher Salicylate level: The left or the right.
(Hint): The one that tastes the nicest is the one that has the most chemicals in it.

The first competition question is on the left:
Does the olive oil or the Sunflower oil have higher Salicylates?

Why do Salicylates cause pain?

My older sister has arthritis and for the past four months she has only eaten foods that are Salicylate-free. Everyone has a threshold of tolerance to chemicals in food and her threshold must be lower than mine because she reacts to them and I do not seem to. A build up of Salicylates over a week or so causes her arthritis to flare up. Her body can not deal with the build up of chemicals in her body. Mine can.

Effects of Salicylates on other people

Salicylates can actually also cause effects on other people. When pregnant, a large dose of salicylates can give them a higher chance of anaemia and indigestion.

Also, if salicylitic acid stays in the Gastrointestinal tract (the tube that runs from your mouth to your anus) for too long, it can cause nausea and Epigastric Distress.

An ideal diet to avoid Salicylates

Here is a link to a chart that shows an ideal diet for people with arthritis, with negligible to moderate being good, and high to very high running the risk of inflamation. It is also helpful for people who don't have arthritis because they can stay healthy and prevent problems later (see "effects on people who don't have arthritis").

What are Salicylates?

A Salicylate is a natural chemical that is found in a wide variety of foods. My older sister has arthritis, and she is on a diet that avoids Salicylates, because they can cause her joints to become inflamed, which causes her pain.
